Behind the project name Elix is an intelligent robot that seamlessly combines lighting, robotics and emotional interaction. The system is based on the vision that light is far more than mere illumination, as it plays a key role in determining how people work and feel. Elix reacts in real time to the activities, moods and gestures of users, thereby enabling adaptive, lively interaction.

"Receiving the German Innovation Award confirms that we are on course to completely rethink light and push the boundaries of what is possible," explains Dr. Ulrich Weiss, Head of Product Management & Innovation & Global IT at LEDVANC. "The development of Elix underlines the spirit of innovation and the technological direction we are aiming for." The project demonstrates how artificial intelligence and state-of-the-art robotics can harmoniously occupy the interface between humans and technology.

The AI-controlled lighting robot has two operating modes: In task mode, an integrated AI camera automatically recognizes five application scenarios, including reading, writing and video conferencing. A six-axis robotic arm directs the light precisely to the user's respective work area. At the same time, the color temperature and intensity are automatically adjusted for greater visual comfort and relaxed eyes.

In emotional mode, Elix recognizes the user's facial expressions and gestures and translates them into individually tailored lighting moods, colors, movements and acoustic feedback. Using integrated gesture control, the robot follows hand movements in real time or reacts gently to touches on the housing.

In its official statement, the jury of the German Innovation Awards said that the challenge of adapting light to individual human needs and moods has been mastered innovatively with Elix. The solution combines light, robotics and emotional interaction to create a lively experience that goes far beyond conventional lighting. The combination of artificial intelligence, gesture control and dynamic lighting scenes creates an intuitive companion that enriches everyday life and sets new standards in human-technology interaction.
